Book week 2007

Little Bo Peep

Little Bo Peep had very humble beginnings – I attempted my first self drafted farthingale but somehow managed to mix up the measurements and ended up with a much shorter and wider farthingale than I had intended.

I made a toile of the Tudor corset generator pattern using her size first, and using part of an old valance from an op shop and it turned out quite really well. When coupled with the farthingale we thought it could be turned into a book week costume.

A lace valance from an op shop became the underskirt, the remainder of the floral valance became the over skirt. I bound the corset in shocking pink ribbon, and we used the same pink with olive ribbon bows on the skirt. I covered her shoes with bright pink felt

The hardest part of the costume was trying to squish her into my tiny car and put a seat belt on her…
